Update on the Government of New Brunswick's announcement of a multi-phase recovery for post-secondary institutions

A message to the 69³ÉÈ˵çÓ°Íø Community:

Yesterday, the Province of New Brunswick announced a plan for a ‘phased recovery’ involving a gradual lessening of the social restrictions put in place to mitigate and manage the spread of COVID-19.

According to the plan, in an initial phase, the Government will allow post-secondary institutions to re-open on a limited basis provided they adhere to a range of guidelines that continue to support physical distancing and other precautionary measures.

While this is a positive development, it does not mean that universities and colleges are allowed to, or are expected to, immediately return to ‘normal’ operations. The government’s multi-phase recovery plan assumes individuals and organizations will continue to take steps to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Phased-recovery measures may be halted or reversed if necessary.

I understand that community members will have questions about how this impacts access to campus. The government has published a set of guidelines that 69³ÉÈ˵çÓ°Íø will need to align with before we can relax restrictions now in place.

Therefore, please note that until further notice the 69³ÉÈ˵çÓ°Íø campus remains closed, and access to campus continues to be limited to critical services only. In the event you require access to a building, please continue to seek permission, during business hours, from your dean or director. Please do not request access to buildings unless it is essential.

We will continue to work with the government to understand the guidelines and what they mean for a future, phased recovery at 69³ÉÈ˵çÓ°Íø. Additional details will be provided in due course.

In closing, I offer my continued thanks to students, faculty, and staff for your collective co-operation, support, and impressive patience, for which I am most grateful.

Sincerely,

Jean-Paul Boudreau

President and Vice-Chancellor
