established the Futures Fund Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership to honour and mentor ten young Canadian university business students each year who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in their academic and extracurricular initiatives.

鈥淜elton鈥檚 commitment and contributions to his studies and extracurricular activities are exemplary,鈥 says Dr. Nauman Farooqi, 69成人电影网鈥檚 Dean of Business and Social Sciences. 鈥淲e are proud and excited to see his leadership recognized with the Futures Funds Scholarship.鈥

Along with a busy academic schedule, Welsh, whose sister also attended 69成人电影网, has worked and volunteered with a number of organizations on campus throughout his degree.

Welsh organized the University鈥檚 annual Business of the Arts workshop, held in the Fall term. The workshop is an annual event that sees Commerce and Arts students engaged in discussions and workshops with faculty, alumni, and community members whose careers focus in the arts. Welsh worked as the workshop鈥檚 intern throughout the summer and leading up to the fall event.

鈥淚 had participated in the Business of Science workshop the previous year and learned so much from this experience,鈥 says Welsh. 鈥淲hen I heard of the internship for a similar event focusing on the Arts, I knew I wanted to be involved. It was a great opportunity to help organize an event like this and work with university staff.鈥

He also served as the financial officer for the MtAUN, the University鈥檚 Model UN society, which held its largest conference to date in 2019, and volunteered with the MtA Hacks, a student-led computer science conference and hackathon, and Habitat for Humanity. Living on campus his first two years, Welsh was a residence assistant his second year and plays intramural hockey.

鈥淭he sense of community on campus and the support that comes with that have been important factors for me since I started at Mount A,鈥 he says. 鈥淏efore my sister came to Mount A, I had never been to the East Coast. I feel very much at home here.鈥

Welsh is graduating this spring and plans to pursue experience in the workforce before looking at grad school.
